Calorie Glance
See calories eaten · burned · left on your Garmin watch, from the food app you already use. Free, no subscription, no new diary.
You log food as usual. Your food app writes it to Apple Health. A small iPhone shortcut sends today's total to your watch code. The watch adds what it burned and shows what's left of your goal.
1. Put it on your watch
Install Calorie Glance from the Garmin Connect IQ Store (link coming here when the listing is live). Open it on the watch: it shows a 6-letter code. Set your daily goal in the Connect IQ app → Calorie Glance → Settings.
2. Let your food app write to Apple Health
Turn on Apple Health sharing for nutrition in your food app (MyFitnessPal, Cronometer, Lose It, MacroFactor, Yazio — any app that writes Dietary Energy to Health works).
3. Add the iPhone shortcut
- Open this page in Safari on your iPhone and tap Add the shortcut. If it only downloads, open the Files app → Downloads → tap Calorie Glance.shortcut. Tap Add Shortcut and type the code from your watch.
- Run it once by hand: tap the Calorie Glance shortcut in the Shortcuts app and tap Allow for Health (Dietary Energy) and for sending data to calorie-glance.b2b-dj-server.workers.dev. Your watch should show today's total within a minute when you open the widget.
- Make it automatic: Shortcuts → Automation → + → App → choose your food app → tick Is Closed and untick Is Opened → Run Immediately → pick Calorie Glance.
- From now on: log food, close the food app. The watch updates within about 10 minutes (open the widget to update at once).
The shortcut runs when you close your food app, while your phone is unlocked — that's when Apple lets apps read Health data. It sends one number: today's calories.
Build the shortcut by hand instead (5 steps)
- Shortcuts → + → name it Calorie Glance.
- Add Find Health Samples: Type is Dietary Energy, Start Date is Today.
- Add Calculate Statistics: Sum of Health Samples.
- Add Get Contents of URL:
https://calorie-glance.b2b-dj-server.workers.dev/v1/t/YOURCODE(your watch code instead of YOURCODE), Method POST, Request Body JSON, add fieldkcal= Statistics. - Create the automation from step 3 above.

Privacy
No account, no name, no email needed. What we store, and for how long:
- Your numbers: your watch code, today's calorie total (and protein / carbs / fat if your shortcut sends them), the time it was last sent and a label for what sent it (e.g. "ios-shortcut"). Overwritten each time; deleted when the code hasn't been updated for 30 days.
- Usage rows: one row per code per day saying "the phone sent" / "the watch read", so we can count active users. Kept 90 days.
- This page: anonymous click counts (page view, shortcut tap, Android interest). No cookies.
- Messages you send below, with the reply address if you give one. Kept 90 days.
- Hosting: the page and the relay run on Cloudflare, which keeps standard request logs (including IP addresses) under its own privacy policy.
To stop: delete the automation and the shortcut; your code is forgotten 30 days later.
Calorie Glance only shows your own numbers. It is not medical or diet advice.
